In today’s demanding reality, everything is always go go go and that’s how we spend most of our days. Life tends to get so busy, we often forget how to relax. From waking up rapidly, checking our phones/email even faster (multiple times), then running all day like there’s no tomorrow, to finally collapsing and falling asleep as soon as we get home… Day by day. Does it sound familiar?
In honor of taking better care of myself in 2017 (and hoping you plan to do the same), last week I decided to slow things down and accept a generous invitation that was sent my way by the Mount View Hotel & Spa in Calistoga. They extended their warmest welcome and sure made me feel special.
I must say, having some “me time” and enjoying a quick weekend escape to Calistoga was a perfect way to recharge my batteries while still staying in Napa Valley. After just two days, I came back to my regular work flow with not only so many new ideas but also loads of positive energy! Win win!
Interested to see what my two-day weekend escape in Calistoga with Mount View Hotel & Spa looked like? Keep on reading!
DAY ONE
The first day of my weekend escape I devoted completely to settling in and figuring out a game plan for the next two days. Since I had to get some work done eventually (oh, life of a blogger + remote social media consultant), I decided to spend day one on simply relaxing.
See my outfit details here.
Checking in
Trust me when I say that you’ll meet the nicest people working at the Mount View Hotel. All employees took very good care of me whenever I had some questions regarding my stay. Are you looking for directions on where to go? You got it! In need of extra pair of slippers? There you go. They truly make you feel right at home as soon as you check in at the hotel.
Splash zone
The Mount View Hotel & Spa offers many amenities to help you relax including a heated pool and a hot tub (mineral whirlpool). Needless to say, I had to take advantage of both! To me there’s nothing better than a hot and cold contrast during winter time and it’s so good for your body, too! I had a great time enjoying the splash zone at a hotel and I can only imagine how fun it must be in the summer. Another staycation in few months? Why not!
I finished my day one with dinner and drinks at Johnny’s Bar Side – directly connected to the hotel, which makes it all so convenient! They serve delicious drinks (beer for $3 during happy hour, holla!) and even tastier food (get a steak and eggs for breakfast and you won’t regret it).
DAY TWO
What’s interesting about this hotel is that each room, suite or cottage (yes, they have those, too!) is styled after a certain Napa Valley winery Mount View Hotel & Spa partners with. They currently have 13 of unique spaces (designed and decorated by the hotel owner’s wife) for you to choose from and enjoy! I stayed at the Hans Fahden King Suite and it was ah-mazing!
Breakfast in bed
There’s no better way to start your day off right than with a breakfast in bed, right? Especially, after you had an amazing night sleep! You guys, I’m not being paid to say any of this, so trust me when I tell you: those beds are heaven! I certainly did not want to leave at all, that’s how comfortable I was. I’m actually considering calling the hotel and asking where they got their mattresses from. Is that too much to ask for?! #shameless
Business meeting
FULL DISCLAIMER: OK, I would lie if I said that I didn’t work a bit (just a little!) during my weekend escape with Mount View Hotel & Spa. But that’s what happens when your career consists of more than one job… Regardless of my busy schedule, staying at the hotel in downtown Calistoga turned out to be a perfect solution. With free wifi in my room (and everywhere else at the hotel), I got to finish up all my work before deadlines and squeeze in a business meeting in town just a few block away from the Mount View hotel.
5’o clock – Ready to Unwind
Upon my arrival at the hotel, I was welcomed in my room with the complimentary Hans Fahden bottle of Cab. Of course I had to save the best for last! My King Suite came with a spacious bathroom – a double shower (!) on the left side of the room + an adorable bath tub on the right. You could literally jump from bed into the tub, it was that close! Mount View Hotel & Spa truly gets the art of relaxation seriously.
