Being a fashion blogger has enabled me to do a lot of fun things, from traveling and meeting like-minded people to getting to try new trends. Although you may think that it’s my job or responsibility to own every single piece that’s currently popular, I’ll be the first one to admit that I don’t buy everything that’s trendy right now. Here’s why…
After years of research and trial, I know now what works for my figure, what’s not going to last and what simply doesn’t go with my style. Therefore, you won’t see me sporting the latest IT bag (that wooden Cult Gaia bag, which sure is beautiful but not really me), just because you see it everywhere now. There’s just simply too many trends to follow (while keeping your wallet happy), but gladly there’s something for everybody to choose from.
In today’s post, I’m focusing on my 6 personal favorite spring style trends that are not only cool, but also in my opinion will be here to stay for years to come (which makes it all worth investing your money into).
My boyfriend thinks they’re too much and weird, but I love them! Bell sleeves are just a simple way to elevate that otherwise plain top – just like this one from Shein. They come in all shapes and forms these days, from more drama to layered tiers or just a subtle bell on the bottom, so there’s definitely something for everybody.
My Tip: Don’t wear big, flowy sleeves to a dinner party. It’s more than likely you’ll get food or drinks spilled on your favorite, new top!
I have been a huge fan of neck scarves for a couple years now, but more recently I noticed they might be making a comeback! I love this trend just because it’s another simple and inexpensive way to elevate your regular outfit.
My Tip: You don’t have to spend a lot of money on a simple accessory. I bought my bandana at a Dollar Store for (you guessed it right) – $1!
RAW ASYMMETRICAL HEM
Years ago my mom would get so mad at me when I decided to go to church in my distressed jeans. Don’t even get me started on my grandma. It’s funny how fashion evolves. Nowadays, it’s such a standard to own at least one pair of ripped jeans, and the more distressing the better! It started with holes, then a frayed hem, and now it’s the asymmetrical cuts, which I personally love!
If you’re into that trend as well, then this skirt from Asos would be a perfect addition to your spring wardrobe. Of course, you can always try to transform your skirt or jeans yourself, I’d be just very careful with it! Last thing you want is to ruin the piece of clothing you love so much!
These type of shoes come in so many forms now. I love the slip on sandals, mules, and more recently – booties. I picked up this pair at my favorite local boutique in Napa – Boho Lifestyle, and already got a lot of use from them (see this post). I’d say they’re my top spring style trends because of their functionality and longevity. I know I can rock these shoes for years to come!
OFF THE SHOULDER
I believe this trend needs no introduction, because it’s been here for a while now! I guess I shouldn’t call it a trend anymore, but thought it would be good to include it in my spring style trends list because off the shoulder also comes in many forms and shapes these days (cold shoulder, one shoulder, bodysuits, etc.) This top from Shein is a must because it’s sort of a 2 in 1 – off the shoulder + halter top with a cute bow accent.
And the last but certainly not the least – ruffles! They’re having a big moment right now and in fact have been for a while! No wonder – they’re feminine, cute and I just can’t get enough of them (see this post). They also come in many forms and that’s what I love about them!
