Blogging Confessions: Let’s Talk Branding

Let’s talk.

You might have noticed radio silence here on the blog lately, and I could probably write a whole blog post about why it happened. BUT, personally I don’t like reading other blogs starting with apologizing for the absence and all the justifications that follow after. I think it’s kinda lame, even though I’ve been guilty of doing so in the past.

Instead, I’d like to focus on another topic for my recently created series – Blogging Confessions (see the first post here). Let’s talk branding, shall we?

First off, I’d lie if I said I had it all figured out when I started blogging over 4 years ago. In fact, my space back then was all over the place, kinda like with artists and their creative outlets. I posted when I felt like it, wrote more or less depending on my mood, and definitely didn’t care as much either. Same with social media. There was no real branding behind it, just fun. While I still blog because I love doing it, fast forward all these years and my mindset is in a completely different spot. A different level, if you will…

Is it because I started to see this space as an opportunity to grow my business? To learn, share and connect with MORE people? Definitely all of the above. However, what’s even more important is how this blog has showed me what kind of a female entrepreneur I can be. And boy, have I learned a thing or two about myself and this business along the way.

BRANDING 101

So what steps have I taken so far?

Recently, I’ve been STRATEGIZING a lot about branding and where I want to take this blog, Hopefully, you noticed little (BIG) changes on this blog that aim to help you navigate easily through all the content shared on my site. I’ve been gradually cleaning up categories to make sure everything is in the right spot and ready to find when you need it.

I also made sure the other elements of the blog are cohesive, from the color scheme to a font size and style. After all, it all counts as a part of my brand image.

Additionally, if you’re following me on Instagram, you know I recently became a proud member of rewardStyle. With that new platform, I am now able to connect my outfits through LikeToKnowIt and make them instantly shoppable. They are also better categorized and easy to find. You can just go to my SHOP tab and click on the SHOP MY INSTAGRAM category.

To you, all these changes might seem like not a lot right now, but trust me, it takes time to build a successful blog. Let alone maintain it. That is why I will be making more updates to ensure you get the best experience possible from Shenska. 😉

I think I’m going to leave it at that for now. However, I will be coming back to the branding subject, as there’s so much more I want to share with you. If you want to know where and how I’ve been learning all the tips and tricks, please come back. There’s a lot more you should know!

Now, what are your thoughts on branding your business?

Tips? Please, do share!

I definitely agree with you on that. I can’t tell you how many times I landed on the blog where I couldn’t find basic information I needed. It’s frustrating!

I think it’s not only important for our readers, but also for our own piece of mind. If you know where you’re going or want to go with your business, that’s half of the success in my opinion!

Branding is hard! You want to feel unique, but likeable, be consistent, but not monotonous, and be smart enough to know when something isn’t work and and need to transition.

Girl you are doing so good with your blog and branding, I’m impressed. I feel like I’m still all over the place when it comes to branding and I don’t even have a shop section on my blog but that is a fantastic idea! I’ll need to pick your brain about it. I do need to spend some time on my blog though it feels a little chaotic and I need to clean up lots of links =P

Branding is so important! I learned all about it in my Marketing classes and hope I can incorporate all my knowledge into my blog, but it’s hard when it’s so personal to you. Like, I love many different colors, how do I pick just one to use in my logo, etc. Good luck with branding your site!
