The funny thing about style is that it’s constantly evolving. What we like to wear today is probably not what we’ll love in 10 years, and that’s OK. Whatever makes us happy, right?
I recently spent some time thinking about the evolution of my style and it was then when I realized what changed over the years. In the last 4-3 years, I started dressing for my body type, not trends, and it’s amazing what it did to my confidence.
If I had one style advice for you today, I’d say always follow the rule: if it doesn’t fit, it won’t flatter. Once I limited shopping clothes to only those pieces that stand the test of time and fit my body accordingly, I started saving money and feel much better about my body! Sure, trends are fun to shop for but they only last so long + not everyone can be put in the same box. Do you agree?
Few more things about my style
- I like to describe my style as California casual because it wasn’t until I moved to America when I fully found my style. Not too long ago, I watched this interview with Cindy Crawford and when she described her style as California casual, I decided that’s how I feel too. Not too serious yet classy, comfortable but still feminine and flirty.
- My favorite pieces to wear are a good pair of jeans, a faux leather moto jacket and a bodycon or maxi dress.
- My least favorite piece of clothing are skirts. Unless it’s a high-waisted maxi skirt with a slit, you will barely ever see me wearing one. I just don’t find them comfortable since they go up when you walk and most don’t fit my booty right.
- Although I like dressing up, if I could wear one thing until the rest of my life, it would probably be a robe and sweatpants. I’m all about comfort! 😉

OMG! I love your dress <3 What size did you get!?
Thanks, love! I got it in size small (6).
What a gorgeous dress on you dear. Love the flattering style and the halter neckline is so chic.

This dress looks amazing on you and I love the ruffle hem! I do agree that trends come and go and shopping for your specific personal style is better as your wallet and clothes will thank you later. I don’t wear heels so I won’t buy into that nor do I wear a lot feminine, girly girl dresses. Happy weekend!

This post resonates with me so much! I had this realization last year that I was done trying to chase trends that just didn’t work for my body! Love your style!

I love your tips, lady- and so true: you have to dress for your body rather than just slap on all the trends. A little tailoring always helps! 🙂
And you look stunning in this pretty yellow!
