I think it’s safe to say that this year is just flying by! Before we know it and we’re almost 6 months in! I don’t know about you, but it’s about time I implement some healthy lifestyle changes into my daily routine. Are you with me?
Living in Napa Valley can get a bit distracting from healthy habits. I mean, we have so many great options for dining and wining that sometimes it’s hard to stay on the right path! I am by no means a follower of any strict diet nor do I like to deprive myself of the things I want… HOWEVER. I realize I’m only getting older and if I don’t start working on getting my somewhat healthy lifestyle in tact, I may never do!
So, without further ado… In today’s post I’m sharing how I try to maintain a healthy lifestyle while living in the wine country.
My Tips for a Healthy Lifestyle in Napa Valley
I’m not a stranger to juicing. In fact, 4 years ago I requested a juicer as my birthday present and absolutely loved it then. Unfortunately, I had to part with my gift when I decided to move to California, which contributed to my not nurturing this healthy habit. Well, not until now!
We are now proud owners of this juicer and I can’t wait to try more recipes. The picture above is everything I used to create my green juice (minus the pineapple and bananas of course). If you like tart flavors, give it a try! And if you are in need of a new juicer, I recommend going through Wikibuy where you can compare all the different deals and equipment.
My heathy lifestyle tip: Check out your local farmer’s market, buy organic fruit and veggies, and JUICE, JUICE, JUICE! To make sure you get all the nutrients you need, look up some recipes to utilize the leftover pulp as well.
Now that the weather in Napa Valley is getting more consistent and much warmer, I FINALY find myself craving more fluids. This is actually a big change for me because I’m the kinda person who often wonders how I’m still alive – that’s how little water I drink. It’s not that I don’t like the taste of plain water, I simply forget to drink it…
Thankfully, I recently partnered with Liquid I.V. and with all honesty – that partnership changed the game for me. Thanks to the hydration multiplier packets I am now more inclined to reach for water. In fact, I always carry some packets in my bag as well! This is a perfect solution for not only those with an active lifestyle (working out or traveling a lot) but also for those like me who just need to hydrate quickly because they feel a headache creeping in from dehydration. 😛 Just one Liquid I.V. can provide the same hydration as drinking 2-3 bottles of water! Amazing, right?
My heathy lifestyle tip: Whether you’re going on a hike, bike ride or wine tasting trips, make sure to always carry these packets with you. Trust me, they saved me from a lot of dehydration driven headaches before!
Get your healthy meals delivered.
As I mentioned before, eating clean in Napa Valley can be challenging at times. There’s just too many temptations! Luckily, I work from home where I can make most of my meals throughout the day, but I would lie if I said I only reach for healthy options to eat. I mean, sometimes I eat crap just out of boredom! Don’t you?
If you’re looking for healthier options, this is where you enter Model Meals. This Whole 30 and Paleo approved meal delivery service makes sure you only get the local + organic food you need! The best part is that you don’t have to do much at all. You get your READY meals delivered on Sundays and Wednesdays and you just heat up your food later. Or grab the salad + juice to go. So effortless and convenient that it would be a crime not to try it.
This service is offered mostly to Southern Californians (LA, OC, San Diego, Santa Barbara, San Bernardino, Riverside), Phoenix, and SF Bay Area customers (Napa included) as of now, but I predict this company to expand to other states soon enough.
My heathy lifestyle tip: Don’t forget to use code PAULINA25 for $25 off your order!
Take a yoga class to clear your mind.
Although I’m still fairly new at this, I find yoga to be an extremely helpful and needed tool for self-care. Since I juggle many different responsibilities at my day job + I blog on a side, you can imagine I have a lot going on in my head. I mean, it’s nonstop.
More recently, yoga taught me how to take time to reflect, meditate and get in tune with my body more. I didn’t know how much I needed that until I took the yin yoga class! I left feeling calm, relaxed and wanting more of that special time with just myself. Highly recommend!
My heathy lifestyle tip: Visit the Ekam Yoga and Wellness studio in Napa or download a meditating app to exercise self-care at home.
