Oh blogging…
It’s a funny thing, you know? It may be misunderstood and underrated MOST of the times, yet it’s still something I never want to give up on. As bloggers, our biggest goal is to connect with readers through photography and words, yes. But it doesn’t go without saying that all those long hours of content creating + trying to figure out how to find people that want to read/see/share/talk about what you put out is legit, hard work.
SO. Before I get sidetracked, I want to thank YOU all for sticking around and sending kind messages my way regarding what I’ve been doing all these years. Being noticed and appreciated in this blogging world is definitely one of the highlights of this job, so please know I don’t take any of it for granted.
Now, I didn’t really mean to come on here and be so serious/ excessively sentimental. 😉 The reason why I’m writing about blogging (yet again), is because I did this fun interview with Style Sift a few weeks ago and I would love for you to read it! We were talking all about fashion and blogging so if you’re just starting out or need some inspiration/ motivation to get started, this post is for you!

When did you start blogging and how did you come to the idea?
I officially started blogging in 2013, but decided to rebrand years down the road and that’s how Shenska came to be. The reason why I decided to give my all into blogging in the first place was because I always loved documenting and sharing my experiences, especially through photography. Starting a blog was the most logical outlet for me to do so.
How do you describe your personal style? What are your inspirations?
I like to describe my style as California casual. I’m all about comfortable pieces that flatter my body type the most. When it comes to fashion, I’m inspired by what I see on the streets and not as much runways. Of course, the media and Internet (Pinterest especially) are always a big source of inspiration as well!
What are the essential pieces you must have in your closet?
A good pair of jeans, a faux leather moto jacket, a wrap or other well-fitted dress (bodycon), and comfortable shoes with some height (preferably booties). If you follow me on Instagram or read my blog, you’ll notice that I love to wear these things A LOT!

What would you describe the biggest challenge in fashion blogging?
Just like any other business, blogging has many challenges. For example, it’s hard to stand tall among such big saturation in the fashion industry, especially when comparison is the easiest thing to do at first. I would lie if I said I never felt discouraged that my blog may not be reaching as many viewers as others seem to have. However, I’m proud of staying in my own lane and focusing on being authentic to my brand, first and foremost.

What is the greatest satisfaction of being a fashion blogger?
Having a creative outlet is something I can’t imagine my life without at this point. I blog because it makes me feel free, fulfilled and for the most part – understood. Every connection I make through blogging, whether it’s somebody who is inspired to buy by what I feature or a brand that aligns with my vision, is not taken for granted.
A fashion rule you never break?
I never wear clothes that simply don’t flatter my body type – no matter how trendy they may be at the moment. Since I’m petite with a defined waist and curves, I try not to wear clothes that are too loose or have a drop waist.

From your point of view, what is the notable trend for the upcoming season?
I expect to see a lot of transparent pieces, fun layering and even more satin! Also, I wouldn’t be surprised if denim came up with some funky details as well.
What has been your most successful blog post till now and what was it about?

This is so lovely. I love the idea of Cali-casual. You look really chic with your comfy clothes. And I think that’s one of the most important for fashion – comfort.
