How To Wear Gingham At Work

When I started working at an advertising agency, I had to quickly fill up my closet with business casual pieces that I could easily mix and match on the daily grind. One of the first things I picked up were these Pixie Ankle pants from Old Navy. I was actually pleasantly surprised that I found so many great office wear pieces there that are not only comfortable, well-priced (my pants on sale for $25 now!) but also fit the dress code. These houndstooth pants, I have to admit, were a little bit out of my comfort zone at first with how flashy they may appear to some. Nonetheless, we all know working at the office from 9 to 5 can be a bit tedious sometimes, so why not at least wear something fun!

I paired my printed pants with a gingham button-up, because why not! I’ve been seeing a lot of gingham lately and I felt inspired to create this look. If you think wearing all gingham is too much for your work environment, just throw on a black (or white, or any other colored) blazer to tone it down a bit. I bet you’ll be getting lots of compliments!

Another fashion trend I’ve been seeing lately are the slip/slide on shoes. When I saw these boots at Boho Lifestyle that fit the description (and the bill), I had to have them! They’re not only super comfortable, but also very versatile. Win win! Boho carries a wide selection of great quality shoes (e.g. Kristin Cavallari’s shoes for Chinese Laundry) , so all boho gals can find something for themselves.

You can shop these at their boutique in Napa (1012 1st Street).

Love this, lady- I’ve always kinda counted gingham as too girly, but this tiny print actually works super well. And love it with the tough booties!
